DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - NASCAR driver Greg Biffle won the honor of breaking ground on a $400 million renovation at Daytona International Speedway yesterday. Biffle and fellow driver Trevor Bayne teamed up to win an obstacle-course race in massive front-end loaders outside the famed track.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Kyle Busch and Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Matt Kenseth swept the front row for tonight's race at Daytona International Speedway. Busch turned a lap at 193.723 mph in yesterday's qualifying to win the pole. Kenseth was second at 193.299.

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A man charged as an accessory in the murder case against former New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez is returning to Massachusetts. Ernest Wallace has been held in the Broward County, Fla., jail since surrendering to police in Miramar last week. Prosecutors say Hernandez orchestrated the June 17 killing of Odin Lloyd of Boston.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - The Chicago White Sox have designated catcher Hector Gimenez for assignment, and recalled catcher Josh Phegley and outfielder Blake Tekotte from AAA Charlotte. The moves were announced before last night's game at Tampa Bay.
